Ufun befel dìfi
The work is constituted by the performance of the aria
“Un bel dì vedremo” from Madama Butterfly by G.Puccini
sung in ‘Farfallino’. The opera is widely recognized
as one of the most infamous example of orientalism
and imperialist sexism. In my work I try to explore if there
is a possibility to escape mechanisms of othering through
the disruption of direct communication, both by singing
and distortion of words.
